I discovered the coffees from Arnaud Causse when I started Caffè Cataldi, advised by the french green coffee importer Belco. And what a shock ! It was a Bourbon lot (with a few Pacamara beans) that was truly outstanding !

So I decided I wanted to know more about this producer... A french agronomist who went in Central America to produce flowers and who is passionate about coffee. His coffee production was more of a hobby, only producing a few 25 Kg bags of different varieties, even mixing them when there was not enough coffee to make a lot (but always processed with the same attention). Las Tolas, his farm, was inside a tropical forest and it is a daily struggle to make it accept coffee cultivation.

He then had a crazy idea ! Go higher in a plateau desert area, provide irrigation using a tunnel built by the spanish during colonization, that takes the water from a distant glacier and create a forrest that will be keen to accept coffee cultivation. Terrazas del Pisque was born.

And here is his first harvest, un wonderful lot that blend the varieties (imported from Las Tolas) currently grown in the area. The cup results matches what can be find in Tolas with a slightly higher expressivity, maybe due to the higher altitude.
